A contractor for the county recently finished a report that provides options for Loudoun County transportation improvements. That report is being delivered Monday 18 June to the sub-committee of the Board of Supervisors responsible for transportation planning. The options include new roads and bypasses for Rt7, Rt9, and Rt15. Of particular interest to our customers is the proposal to add a Rt15 bypass around Lucketts.

The proposed Lucketts Rt15 bypass is 8 miles long and will be a 4 lane road with land set aside to expand in the future to 6 lanes. The road may or may not be limited access. The proposed route for the new road takes it through local parks, farms and businesses. This warrants some discussion, so we have created a special topic for it on the Lucketts.net Forums.

As information becomes available, we'll post it here. There will be a website soon, and we'll work with it to provide links to important data.

This forum is for public comment. There are reasonable arguments for and against new roads, so please keep discussions civil. We will not censor material we don't agree with, but we reserve the right to remove anything crude, rude, or unprofessional.

Messages posted to this board are anonymous by default. The email address you used to sign up to the forum is not visible to the public, only the user name you choose is visible. Messages can be forwarded to you through this forum, but the sender does not see your real email address, unless you respond to them by email. I do recommend identifying yourself with a signature block, as it lends credibility to your message if you stand behind it.

With growth, more roads are needed for sure, but, if it’s not done right, there will be a lot of angry people. I would think that the residents of Lucketts would want this. Depending of course where the new road will go. It is my opinion that VA has been slow to improve these roads like Rt.7, Rt. 9 and Rt. 15. I think if it’s done right, it would benefit both the Lucketts residents (and other towns) and those that use these routes for their daily commutes. Keep us posted.

Expanding Rt15 is over due. again depends on how and where the bypass goes thru.

Rt15 is obviously a gateway to Md, which also takes you to up to NY and beyond. It is not just the bypass and expansion the road, the bridge also needs expansion.

To clarify, the plan was just to bypass Rt15 with a 4 to 6 lane road. There was no plan to upgrade the bridge, and no plan to improve the roadway on the other side of the river.
