I moved here to Village Green nearly 3 Years ago, during that time they said FIOS would come in about 6months...3 Years Later, and after 3 or so Internet Service Providers Later, Still Nothing. I'm on a sprint EV-DO card now. But even that doesn't really cut it for Gaming or Downloads. It's all slow, and I'm tired of looking for so many alternatives. What's everyone else around here using? is anything of the sort ever going to be available to us ever?

I have to admit, that some posts leave me at a loss for words...

Enriched, did you ever consider trying Lucketts.net as a service provider? We've been there since well before your home was built, and we serve most of the homes in Village Green. And we provide this forum. We're a lot faster than sprint ed-vo cards, and our download caps are orders of magnitude better.

Call our office and we can have you set up within a day or two.

sorry about my tantrum, i was just being frustrated.

My main question, is..I don't know if you game or not, but most online games on these "wireless internet service providers" have a severe delay time, and I can reach pings of 2-3000ms which is extremely high (Wildblue,Hughesnet), an basically renders all gaming useless, and by gaming i'm talking "World of Warcraft, Call of Duty,Counter-Strike,Left 4 Dead" ect. Games that require a pretty fast response time. The Sprint Evdo can actually, and it surprised me too...Handle this. with a 300-400ms. but with an occasional spike. So what are speeds I'm to expect if I get lucketts.net? What have you heard? or experimented with? or even better, play yourself? Because theres a bunch of internet providers that swear they're fast. and I'm sure they are for youtube,or looking stuff online or dl'ing music.Sure my parents would do that stuff, but I dont do much of any of that cept, game so I really look for one that has a fast response time, capable of low pings. and Fios which i've seen had givin less then 30ping, which is practically instantaneous. Or even wired cable, like Comcast, give relatively low pings as well, with averagely 90ms or so. So what am I to expect from lucketts.net?

We play COD frequently and have pings usually in the 30-70 range. Online gaming works wonderfully on lucketts.net.

And we're working on improving the latency with some major improvements in the near future.

At this moment, I am getting avg latency of 10 ms to a very quick response internet DNS server site - 4.2.2.1 . That's about the fastest response we get from any major internet site, and represents the best possible with our network. Each radio link add about 1.5 ms to the latency, so the average customer at Village Green should see the same 4.2.2.1 site with a latency of 13 ms. During busy times, it would be worse.

Other sites right now such as google get 37 ms avg, and yahoo 24 ms avg, but that is highly dependent on which server you connect to. Game servers are usually much slower than the faster web site servers.

Don't mix up Wireless Internet service providers (WISP) with phone companies like Sprint and Verizon that sell internet service off of their cell phone service. Most any WISP will easily beat a cell company in just about every measure (speed, latency, downloads, uploads, customer service). Not even in the same ballpark. Our strength is delivery to a fixed location (house), theirs is mobile.
